Grid Organizations and Standards Bodies

The first place to start when looking at organizations that are driving grid standards is the Global Grid Forum (GGF). The GGF sponsors numerous research areas and working groups. It also holds a well-attended international conference ("GGFx") two or three times per year.

ACM and IEEE through the IEEE Computer Society also sponsor various grid research activities and conferences, such as the 3rd International Workshop on Grid Computing that was held in conjunction with Supercomputing 2002 .

Finally, as Open Grid Services Architecture will likely converge with various web services initiatives, the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) will also play a role in grid standardization.
